U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that “Cuba is next” while speaking at an investment forum in Miami, raising concerns over potential future actions against the island nation.
During the speech, Trump highlighted recent U.S. military operations in Venezuela and Iran and suggested that similar attention could turn toward Cuba, although he did not provide specific details.
He reiterated his view that Cuba’s government is facing severe economic challenges and may be nearing collapse, while also hinting that negotiations with Cuban leadership are ongoing.
Trump also suggested that military action could be a possibility, stating that while the U.S. prefers not to use force, “sometimes you have to,” in reference to his earlier remarks.
Meanwhile, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has acknowledged that discussions are taking place with the United States in an effort to avoid further escalation.
Cuba is currently facing a deep economic crisis, worsened by disruptions in oil supplies, which has increased pressure on the government and heightened tensions with Washington.
