The United National Party (UNP) has extended its best wishes to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) ahead of its upcoming general rally in Anuradhapura.
In a letter addressed to SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam, UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena said the rally is being organized under the leadership of SLPP National Organizer and Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, with the participation of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Abeywardena alleged that Namal Rajapaksa’s recent arrest was intended to disrupt the planned Anuradhapura rally.
Despite this, he said the UNP wished the SLPP success in holding the rally, which is scheduled to take place under the patronage of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
