The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers or thundershowers in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m. today (October 7).
According to the Department, fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely in several areas of the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central, and Uva provinces.
In addition, showers or thundershowers may occur in the morning in parts of the Western Province and in the Galle, Matara, Puttalam, Jaffna, and Trincomalee districts.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize the risk of damage caused by lightning and temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
