President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has accused corrupt political figures of uniting under the pretense of opposing government suppression, despite previously being divided during elections.
Speaking at a public rally in Polpithigama, the President asserted that their claims of suppression are misleading, serving only to distract from their own involvement in corruption.
He highlighted past political violence and injustices, referencing the murders of journalists Lasantha Wickrematunge and Thajudeen, the abduction of Prageeth Ekneligoda, and attacks on media outlets as true examples of suppression.
Dissanayake further named individuals linked to financial scandals, including an Australian investor-related business scandal, the Central Bank scam, and an oil scam.
Reaffirming his commitment to justice and accountability, the President vowed to transform the country into a more transparent and fair society.
