The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) reports that 4,943 dengue cases have been recorded in Sri Lanka before the end of January 2025, with two dengue-related deaths confirmed.
The NDCU has also identified 16 high-risk dengue zones across the country.
The Gampaha District recorded the highest number of cases (764), followed by:
- Colombo District – 674 cases
- Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) area – 608 cases
- Galle District – 315 cases
- Kandy District – 303 cases
- Batticaloa District – 278 cases
- Jaffna District – 201 cases
Authorities urge the public to take preventive measures to curb the spread of dengue.
