India Sends Medical Aid and Field Hospitals to Sri Lanka to Support Flood Relief Efforts

December 3, 2025

India strengthened Sri Lanka’s disaster response efforts yesterday (02) when an Indian Air Force C-17A aircraft carrying emergency medical supplies arrived in the country.

The consignment includes essential medicines, medical equipment, and rapidly deployable field facilities intended to support ongoing rescue and relief operations.

The supplies were officially handed over by the Indian High Commissioner, Santosh Jha, and received by the Director General of the Army, Major General Tiral de Silva, along with several senior officials.

Notably, the shipment contains two fully equipped field hospital units designed for rapid deployment in emergency situations. One of these units will be established in the Welimada area to aid affected communities.

In addition, India has dispatched 73 medical professionals—including doctors, general and physical therapists, anesthesiologists, and other specialist health personnel—to provide medical assistance to those impacted by the disaster.
