Sri Lanka Customs Records Historic Revenue, Exceeds Revised 2025 Target

December 29, 2025

Sri Lanka Customs has recorded a historic revenue of Rs. 2,497 billion in 2025 to date, surpassing its revised annual target, according to Customs Media Spokesperson and Director of Customs, Chandana Punchihewa.

The Ministry of Finance had initially set a revenue target of Rs. 2,115 billion for 2025. This target was exceeded by November, leading to a revision to Rs. 2,231 billion. However, Customs has now surpassed the revised target as well, Punchihewa said.

Speaking to the media, he attributed the significant increase in revenue to a series of internal measures implemented by Sri Lanka Customs, along with the resumption of vehicle imports.

Punchihewa noted that the revenue target for the previous year stood at Rs. 1,531 billion, while the substantially higher target for 2025 was set following the government’s decision to allow vehicle imports.

“Vehicle imports played a key role in exceeding the revenue target, in addition to the various measures adopted by Customs,” he added.
