IMF Delegation Arrives in Sri Lanka Today to Assess Cyclone Ditwah Impact

A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today (22), marking the beginning of a crucial visit aimed at assessing the damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

The IMF team will remain in the country until January 28, during which they will engage in discussions with relevant authorities to evaluate the current situation.

The IMF stated that the visit aims to examine how Sri Lanka has managed the economic and humanitarian challenges caused by the cyclone, focusing on its impact on infrastructure, livelihoods, and economic stability.

Furthermore, the IMF has completed the fifth review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) provided to Sri Lanka. The delegation is expected to discuss and seek approval for the next stage of the program during this visit.
