Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and MP Ravi Karunanayake has emphasized the urgent need to appoint a suitable Auditor General.
Speaking to the media, he said that the prolonged vacancy in the position has negatively impacted the functioning of the Audit Services Commission.
Karunanayake pointed out that this is a serious issue, as the Auditor General also serves as the chairman of the commission.
He urged that a qualified person be appointed to the post without delay to prevent further complications.
