Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and MP Ravi Karunanayake has raised concerns in Parliament over ongoing problems faced by people seeking insurance compensation for damages caused by Cyclone Ditva.
He stressed that the relevant authorities must intervene promptly to resolve these issues and ensure affected families receive their due relief.
Raising the matter under Standing Order 27(2), the MP questioned the government on what steps have been taken to compel insurance companies to settle Ditva-related claims.
He also asked for details on the number of claims that remain unpaid and requested that the total value of those outstanding claims be disclosed.
