Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party, MP Ravi Karunanayake, says he will look into the facts surrounding the controversy over the Iranian ship and present his findings in Parliament.
Speaking to the media, he noted that there is still a lack of clarity on the matter.
He pointed out that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had recently stated that Sri Lanka did not grant permission for the Iranian ship’s goodwill visit. However, the Iranian Ambassador in Colombo has claimed that an invitation was extended by the Sri Lankan government.
Karunanayake said that with such conflicting statements, it is difficult to reach a clear conclusion. He added that he intends to investigate the issue thoroughly and make a statement in Parliament in the near future.
