Ganguly, Pietersen and Anjum Chopra Inducted into ICC Hall of Fame

July 13, 2026

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, former England batter Kevin Pietersen and former India women’s captain Anjum Chopra have been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame for 2026.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the trio’s induction during a ceremony held in Edinburgh, bringing the total number of ICC Hall of Fame members to 125.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah congratulated the inductees, saying they represent the highest standards of cricketing excellence and that their achievements will inspire generations to come.

Ganguly, one of India’s most successful captains, led the team to the final of the 2003 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and the 2000 ICC Champions Trophy. Under his leadership, India also shared the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy title with Sri Lanka.

Pietersen played a pivotal role in England’s historic Ashes triumph in 2005 and was named Player of the Tournament when England won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2010.

Anjum Chopra became the first Indian woman to score 1,000 runs in One Day Internationals and the first to play 100 ODIs. She also captained India to its first overseas Test victory in South Africa in 2002 and played a key role in the team’s run to the final of the 2005 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

Launched in 2009 as part of the ICC’s centenary celebrations, the ICC Hall of Fame honours former players who have made exceptional contributions to the game and left a lasting impact on the history of cricket.

Players become eligible for induction five years after retiring from international cricket.
