The Cabinet has approved regulations to be presented to Parliament covering 68 businesses operating within Colombo Port City, which have been designated as secondary businesses of marginal importance.
The businesses operate across several sectors, including information technology, consultancy, business process outsourcing (BPO), logistics, infrastructure, and mixed and integrated business services.
The designation was approved at the Cabinet meeting held on March 30, 2026, under the provisions of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act No. 11 of 2021.
Following the Cabinet decision, the relevant regulations were published in an Extraordinary Gazette on April 10, 2026.
The regulations will now be submitted to Parliament for approval in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
The proposal was presented to the Cabinet by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
