A total of 294,132 students applied for the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, while 289,867 candidates ultimately sat for the examination, Commissioner General of Examinations A.K.S. Indika Kumari Liyanage said.
She said around 56,000 students have scored above the cut-off mark in this year’s examination.
The highest score in the Sinhala medium was 193 marks, achieved by a student from the Kurunegala District. In the Tamil medium, the highest score was 188 marks, recorded by a student from the Jaffna District.
The results of the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination have now been released online and can be accessed through the Department of Examinations website at www.doenets.lk.
The examination was conducted on August 9 at 2,723 examination centres across the island.
