NMRA Says Medicine Price Regulation Could Save Billions for the Public
The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) says the government is expected to save approximately Rs. 5.7 billion by regulating the prices of 13 high-priced medicines.
NMRA Chairman Specialist Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama made the statement at a media briefing held in Colombo today (October 1).
He said the savings for the public would vary depending on the medicines they purchase, adding that the medicines affected by the price reductions are mainly those required by patients for long-term treatment.
