Sri Lanka to Host Inaugural World Snake Conference 2026

The inaugural World Snake Conference 2026, being held in Sri Lanka for the first time, is set to take place under the patronage of Environment Minister Dhammika Patabendi.

The international conference, themed “Snakes, Science, Species Survival and Sri Lanka,” is expected to bring together local and international scholars, researchers, environmentalists and experts in the field.

The conference will focus on the conservation of Sri Lanka’s diverse snake species, scientific research and measures to protect snake populations. It will also provide a platform for experts to exchange knowledge and discuss challenges affecting the survival of snake species.

Organizers expect the event to raise awareness of Sri Lanka’s diverse and endemic snake species and highlight the importance of scientific research and conservation efforts in protecting them.
