Heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas of the Kalu Ganga has caused water levels to rise in the Kalawellawa area.
The Department of Irrigation said the water level at the Millakanda gauging station had exceeded five metres as of this morning (12).
The Department has urged residents in low-lying areas along the Kalu Ganga to remain vigilant amid the rising water levels.
