Andrew Patrick, British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, has lauded the government’s swift progress toward economic stabilization. Speaking during a meeting with Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, Patrick remarked that Sri Lanka is moving in the right direction economically.
Dr. Suriyapperuma provided an overview of Sri Lanka’s economic strategies and plans, receiving commendation for the country’s progress in restructuring international sovereign bonds and effectively implementing the IMF program.
The High Commissioner emphasized the UK’s willingness to strengthen trade ties by increasing imports of Sri Lankan products, particularly organic agricultural produce, garments, and natural beauty products.
Additionally, Patrick announced that a delegation of British business leaders is set to visit Sri Lanka early next year to explore further trade and investment opportunities.
