The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has confirmed that the maximum retail prices of raw rice remain unchanged, despite reports of some rice mill owners and wholesalers misleading retailers about price increases.
The CAA clarified that the regulated prices, as published in the official gazette, are as follows:
- Raw red rice – Rs. 220 per kg
- Nadu rice – Rs. 230 per kg
- Samba rice – Rs. 240 per kg
- Keeri Samba rice – Rs. 260 per kg
Retailers have been advised to adhere to these price controls, as the CAA will continue nationwide raids and investigations to enforce regulations and take legal action against violators.
