The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka has committed to distributing aid packages to 2,000 families in the Eastern province who have been severely affected by heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions.
Professor Jayanthalal Ratnasekara, Governor of the Eastern Province, confirmed that the aid packages will be promptly distributed across all three districts in the province once received from the embassy.
In addition, the Governor highlighted that relevant authorities have been instructed to take proactive measures to minimize the impact of natural disasters in the region. Special attention is being given to areas that have been submerged for extended periods due to persistent high water levels.
This assistance and the ongoing efforts aim to provide relief to affected families and strengthen disaster preparedness in the Eastern Province.
