The All Share Price Index (ASPI) of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) surged by 197.19 points (1.17%) today, closing at an unprecedented 17,025.99 points, marking a new all-time high. Earlier in the day, the ASPI broke past the 17,000-point threshold for the first time in Sri Lanka’s capital market history, achieving the milestone at 12:26 p.m.
The S&P SL20 index, which represents the top 20 listed companies, also hit a new high, climbing 36.34 points (0.71%) to close at 5,183.96.
Today’s market activity saw robust trading, with turnover exceeding Rs. 9.78 billion, reflecting heightened investor interest and confidence.
