The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says there is currently no fuel shortage in Sri Lanka.
Mayura Netthikumarage stated that two crude oil vessels are scheduled to arrive at Port of Colombo within the next few days.
According to him:
- One shipment will arrive from the United States
- The other will arrive from the United Arab Emirates
Each vessel is expected to carry approximately 90,000 metric tons of crude oil.
Dr. Netthikumarage further stated that queues observed at some fuel stations were mainly caused by false rumours circulating about a possible fuel price increase.
Authorities have urged the public not to panic and emphasized that adequate fuel stocks and supply arrangements are currently in place.
The statement comes amid recent public concern over:
- Rising global oil prices
- Middle East geopolitical tensions
- Currency fluctuations affecting fuel import costs
The CPC says fuel distribution operations continue normally across the country.
