Government Announces New Import Duty Rates for Vehicles

The government has introduced revised import duty rates for vehicles, effective from February, as detailed in an extraordinary gazette notification.

The notification states that the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, has imposed import duties ranging from 200% to 300% on vehicles manufactured within the past 10 years.

Further, specific vehicle categories will have duties calculated based on factors such as engine capacity and motor power (measured in kilowatts).

This policy aims to regulate vehicle imports while addressing broader economic and environmental concerns.
