Household Income and Expenditure Survey Commences to Determine Poverty Line

The Department of Census and Statistics has announced the commencement of the Household Income and Expenditure Survey, which aims to establish the country’s poverty line.

Director General Anoja Seneviratne noted that the survey, typically conducted every three years, was delayed until 2025 due to the economic crisis. The previous survey was completed in 2019.

This initiative is expected to provide crucial insights into income disparities and living conditions, aiding policymakers in addressing poverty and economic challenges effectively.
