Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and United States President Donald Trump held a brief but cordial exchange on Tuesday during the second day of the 52nd G7 Summit in Evian, France.
The interaction took place ahead of a special summit session attended by G7 member states and invited partner countries.
According to footage released from the event, Prime Minister Modi and President Trump engaged in a friendly conversation following the official group photograph, as world leaders gathered before the commencement of formal discussions.
The two leaders were seen warmly shaking hands, while President Trump was also observed patting Prime Minister Modi on the arm in a gesture that reflected the cordial relationship between the two leaders.
During the summit proceedings that followed, Modi and Trump were seated next to each other, drawing attention from international media and observers.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi was welcomed by French President Emmanuel Macron upon his arrival at the summit venue. He subsequently joined fellow leaders for the traditional G7 family photograph.
The group photo included several prominent global leaders, among them European Council President Antonio Costa, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, U.S. President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Prime Minister Modi is attending the summit as a guest leader and is expected to participate in discussions on global economic cooperation, technological innovation, artificial intelligence, climate issues, and international security.
The G7 Summit brings together leaders of major advanced economies and invited partner nations to discuss pressing global challenges and opportunities for international collaboration.
