Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to establishing economic democracy, ensuring inclusive participation in the economy.
Speaking during the ongoing budget debate in Parliament, Dr. Amarasuriya noted a surprising shift, with the opposition now advocating Marxist and Leninist ideologies more than the government itself.
She explained that economic democracy aims to create an equitable system where no one is left behind, with mechanisms in place to fairly distribute benefits. The government is also focusing on encouraging active citizen engagement in the economic framework.
Additionally, she highlighted that significant budget allocations have been made across various ministries, particularly those linked to economic development, to create new opportunities for the public. Dr. Amarasuriya urged citizens to take full advantage of these initiatives.
