Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya met with United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka, Marc-André Franche, at Temple Trees today (29) to discuss post-Cyclone Ditwah recovery efforts and ongoing humanitarian cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United Nations.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, discussions focused particularly on the Humanitarian Priority Plan (HPP), which was launched in December 2025 to support communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
The initiative concluded on April 30, 2026, after providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities across all 25 districts through the combined efforts of 81 partner organizations.
During the discussions, attention was drawn to the importance of maintaining recovery momentum and ensuring continued support for affected communities.
The Prime Minister’s Office stated that the Government acknowledged the significant international assistance mobilized through the HPP and emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration to preserve recovery gains achieved so far.
During the meeting, the United Nations delegation also formally presented the latest Sri Lanka Cyclone Ditwah Situation Report to Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
The discussion reflects continuing cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United Nations as recovery and reconstruction efforts continue following the cyclone’s impact across the country.
