President Dissanayake Highlights Government’s Commitment to Transformation in 2025

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake emphasized that the responsibility for transforming Sri Lanka in the New Year lies with the government. Speaking at the launch of the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ national initiative, the President outlined the government’s commitment to overcoming the challenges ahead, starting with a foundation of political reform.

“The country has lost its foundation, and we are working hard to rebuild it,” President Dissanayake remarked, referencing the government’s efforts to restore political authority, strengthen state machinery, uphold the rule of law, and combat corruption and fraud.

The President stressed that state institutions must fully understand their responsibilities in supporting the government’s initiatives. He pointed out that political leadership alone is not enough to eradicate corruption, which he likened to a cancer spread throughout the state apparatus.

Highlighting the emergence of a new political culture, President Dissanayake reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring that this culture is sustained throughout the year. He also laid out the government’s key priorities, including launching a new economic program to combat poverty, digitizing the nation to modernize governance, and executing the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative to restore integrity across all sectors.

“The Clean Sri Lanka program aims to ensure accountability and transparency, rebuilding our country with a focus on integrity,” he concluded.
