President’s Fund to Support After-Hours Surgeries in Government Hospitals

The President’s Fund has decided to provide incentives for surgeries performed after office hours in government hospitals to address long waiting lists.

The decision was made during the first Board of Governors meeting for 2025, held yesterday (28) at the Presidential Secretariat, chaired by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, and other officials.

Discussions focused on enhancing the efficiency of the President’s Fund, identifying challenges, and improving healthcare access. As part of the initiative, staff involved in after-hours surgeries will receive financial incentives through the President’s Fund.
