Harini Amarasuriya on Tuesday (26) declared open a newly equipped High Definition (HD) television studio at the University of Vocational Technology in Ratmalana.
The new studio, established as part of the university’s media complex, has been fitted with modern broadcasting and production equipment to enhance practical training opportunities for students pursuing media and technology-related studies.
Several additional affiliated centres were also inaugurated during the event, including:
A broadcasting studio with web radio facilities
An Artificial Intelligence (AI) research laboratory
A centre focused on gender, equity, and equality
The Prime Minister also officially launched the university’s:
“UoVT Greening Policy”
According to officials, the policy aims to ensure that future construction and development activities at the university are carried out using environmentally sustainable concepts.
The initiative further seeks to:
Transform the university into a carbon-neutral institution by 2030
Encourage vocational students to pursue employment opportunities in green-sector industries
During the event, laptops were also donated to several schools affected by recent floods and natural disasters to support the continuation of educational activities.
