Former UNP Deputy Leader MP Ravi Karunanayake has criticized the government, stating that it misled the public with false promises to gain power.
In an interview with ceylonwire.lk, Karunanayake pointed out that the government had pledged to sell cars for Rs. 1.2 million, yet today, even a set of wheels costs Rs. 1 million.
He further accused the government of deceiving public sector employees by promising salary increases that will only be implemented over three years in stages, rather than immediately as implied.
Given these broken promises, he stated that criticism of the government is justified.
