Singapore and Japan have claimed the top two spots on the 2025 Henley Passport Index, which evaluates 199 passports based on visa-free access to destinations worldwide. The rankings are compiled using exclusive Timatic data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
- Singapore reclaimed the top position as the world’s most powerful passport, offering visa-free access to 195 destinations out of 227 globally.
- Japan secured second place with visa-free access to 193 destinations, regaining visa-free entry to China for the first time since the COVID-19 lockdowns.
Sri Lanka Makes Progress
Sri Lanka climbed to 96th place, sharing the spot with Iran and South Sudan. Sri Lankan citizens can now enjoy visa-free access to 44 countries worldwide, marking steady progress:
- 2023: Ranked 100th
- 2022: Ranked 102nd
The improvement highlights a positive trend for Sri Lanka’s passport power, reflecting ongoing efforts to enhance global mobility for its citizens.
