SLPP to Take Legal Action Over Reduction in Security for Former President Rajapaksa

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has announced plans to take legal action in response to the reduction in security provided to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Attorney at Law Ravindra Jayasinghe, a National Executive Member of the SLPP, expressed concern that the decision to reduce the number of security personnel was based on economic factors, rather than being a necessary requirement for service. He emphasized that such a move was not acceptable.

Jayasinghe also criticized a statement made by National People’s Power (NPP) Parliamentarian Nilanthi Kottahachchi, calling it baseless. He compared her comments on security to her earlier remarks about black money in Uganda, suggesting that both were attempts to mislead the public.

He further stated that the SLPP would take legal action against these “baseless” statements in the future, highlighting the party’s intention to challenge both the reduction in security and the misleading claims.
