The Department of Prisons has announced a special arrangement allowing open visits for inmates in celebration of Vesak Poya Day.
This opportunity will be available on May 12 and 13 across all prisons in the country, the Department confirmed.
As part of the initiative, each inmate will be allowed to receive a food parcel, a packet of sweets, and a personal hygiene kit from their relatives.
The Department emphasized that all visits will be conducted in accordance with the necessary health guidelines.
