The number of dengue-related deaths recorded in Sri Lanka so far this year has risen to 77, according to the latest data from the National Dengue Control Unit.
The country has reported a total of 99,634 dengue cases, with a case fatality rate of 0.077%.
The Western Province accounts for 52.53% of all reported cases, with 52,340 patients recorded in the province.
At district level, Gampaha has recorded the highest number of cases at 21,136, followed by Colombo with 19,569, Kandy with 7,547, Kalutara with 6,339, and Matara with 6,273 cases.
The highest monthly number of cases was recorded in July, with 29,964 cases. A further 21,533 cases were reported in June and 10,155 cases in August.
So far in September, 4,144 dengue cases have been reported.
