Sri Lanka Police unveiled the e-Traffic mobile application on January 1, aiming to curb traffic violations and promote road safety under the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative. The app was launched by Acting Inspector General of Police, Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasuriya, during a ceremony at the Police Headquarters.
Empowering Citizens to Improve Traffic Discipline
The e-Traffic app enables the public to report traffic violations and related incidents in real-time. With its user-friendly Camera and Video features, users can upload evidence of offenses, which are sent directly to Police Headquarters for immediate review and action.
Key Features and Accessibility
- Download: The app is accessible via the E-services section of the Sri Lanka Police website, www.police.lk.
- Reporting Violations: Users can document and submit reports of traffic violations for swift responses from authorities.
- Island-wide Coverage: Traffic officers at 607 police stations across Sri Lanka will handle the complaints received through the app.
Ensuring Transparency and Accountability
Reported violations will be investigated by Police Headquarters and assigned to relevant police divisions for legal action. The progress of these investigations will be monitored to maintain transparency and enhance accountability.
