Sri Lanka Records Over 100,000 Tourist Arrivals in First Two Weeks of January

Sri Lanka has achieved a significant milestone in its tourism sector, welcoming 112,415 international visitors within the first two weeks of January. This marks a 22% Year-on-Year (YoY) increase, according to provisional data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

The daily average of tourist arrivals currently stands at 8,029, with a weekly average of 56,207 visitors.

India remains the largest source of tourist traffic, contributing 17.2% of the total arrivals. The Russian Federation follows closely with 15.3%, while the United Kingdom ranks third, accounting for 8.2%. Germany also emerges as a significant contributor, representing 6.6% of the total arrivals.

Other key markets driving Sri Lanka’s tourism recovery include Australia, France, China, the United States, the Netherlands, and Poland.

These figures signal a strong start to the year for Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, reflecting its growing appeal among global travelers.
