Sri Lanka Records Unhealthy Air Quality for Second Consecutive Day

The Vehicular Emission Test Trust Fund of the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) has reported slightly unhealthy air quality levels across most cities for the second consecutive day, while moderate levels were recorded in Nuwara Eliya, Batticaloa, and Hambantota.

Officials attribute the deteriorating air quality to polluted wind flow from the northern region, influenced by transboundary conditions and wind direction.

Air quality indicators are expected to fluctuate between slightly unhealthy and unhealthy levels in the coming days. Moderate air quality levels were also reported in Jaffna, Kurunegala, Vavuniya, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya, Mullaitivu, Batticaloa, and Kalutara.
