Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in charge of the Traffic and Road Safety Range, Indika Hapugoda, has emphasized that strict action will be taken against motorists violating traffic laws during the upcoming festive season.
Speaking via telephone, DIG Hapugoda stated that special operations will be carried out across all 45 police divisions to ensure compliance with road safety regulations.
He stressed that the law will be rigorously enforced, particularly against drunk driving, with arrests to be made throughout the month of April.
To support these enforcement efforts, 150,000 breathalyzer test kits have been distributed to police stations across the island.
