A new study has found that 11 types of cancer are increasing among people aged 20 to 49, raising fresh concerns among health experts.
The research was conducted by scientists from the Institute of Cancer Research London and Imperial College London.
According to the findings, obesity is emerging as a major contributing factor behind the rise in cancers among younger age groups.
The study identified increases in several cancers, including Thyroid cancer, Multiple myeloma, Liver cancer, Kidney cancer, Gallbladder cancer, Colorectal cancer, Pancreatic cancer, Endometrial cancer, Oral cancer, Breast cancer, and Ovarian cancer.
Researchers noted that all of these cancers—except oral cancer—have strong links to excess body weight.
While obesity alone does not fully explain the trend, scientists believe it plays a key role, particularly due to factors such as elevated insulin levels associated with being overweight.
The findings add to growing global concern over increasing rates of cancers like colorectal and ovarian cancer among young adults, highlighting the need for early prevention and lifestyle awareness.
