The Department of Meteorology has announced the following weather conditions for the coming days:
- Rainfall and Thunderstorms:
- Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Eastern, Uva, and Southern provinces, as well as in the Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, and Polonnaruwa districts.
- Northern Province and the Anuradhapura district will experience several spells of showers.
- Evening or nighttime showers or thundershowers are expected in several other areas.
- Heavy Rainfall Alerts:
- Fairly heavy showers of approximately 75 mm are likely in parts of the Uva and Southern provinces, as well as the Ampara and Batticaloa districts.
- Strong Winds:
- Fairly strong winds, ranging from 30-35 kmph, are anticipated over the Eastern slopes of the central hills, and across the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and North-Western provinces. Winds will also affect the Matale, Hambantota, and Monaragala districts.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
