The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers or thundershowers at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, and Hambantota districts today (11).
Additionally, showers or thundershowers are expected in several other areas during the afternoon or night.
Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds Expected
- Fairly heavy showers exceeding 75mm may occur in parts of the Northern, Eastern, Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, and Uva provinces, along with the Galle, Matara, Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, and Polonnaruwa districts.
- Strong winds of 30-40 kmph are anticipated at times over the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, Monaragala, and Hambantota districts.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage from temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
