Foreign worker remittances to Sri Lanka reached US$ 814.8 million in March 2026, marking a 17.5% increase compared to US$ 693.3 million recorded in March 2025, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
The Central Bank further noted that cumulative remittances for the first quarter of 2026 rose to US$ 2,294.9 million, reflecting a 26.5% increase from US$ 1,814.4 million during the same period last year.
Officials said the increase comes despite disruptions caused by the ongoing Middle East conflict, underscoring the resilience of remittance inflows to the country’s economy.
