Yoshitha Rajapaksa Summoned by Bribery Commission Over Training-Related Investigation

June 11, 2026

Former Navy Lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksa has been ordered to appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on June 16 following several complaints lodged against him.

According to reports, the investigation is being conducted under the provisions of the Anti-Corruption Act and is primarily focused on the circumstances surrounding his participation in a Royal Navy training programme in the United Kingdom.

Investigators are reportedly examining whether the overseas training was obtained in accordance with established legal and administrative procedures.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa, who joined the Sri Lanka Navy on December 14, 2006, is alleged to have received the foreign training outside the normal approval processes applicable to naval personnel.

In addition to the training programme, investigators are also expected to examine the educational qualifications considered during his recruitment to the Navy and the procedures followed in granting him access to other foreign training opportunities during his period of service.

The Bribery Commission has not yet publicly disclosed further details regarding the complaints or the scope of the inquiry.

The investigation forms part of ongoing efforts by authorities to examine allegations of misconduct and ensure accountability under the Anti-Corruption Act.
