The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the presentation of the Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Bill in Parliament.
The amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022 were approved by the Cabinet during its meeting on February 19, 2025. The draft amendment bill, prepared by the Legal Draftsman, has also received clearance from the Attorney General.
Accordingly, the proposal made by the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Digital Economy, to publish the amendment bill in the Government Gazette and subsequently present it to Parliament for approval, was granted Cabinet approval.
