An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale struck the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan on Wednesday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
The quake occurred at a depth of 75 kilometres (46 miles), with its epicentre located approximately 164 kilometres east of Baghlan, a city home to around 108,000 people, the NCS reported.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) initially estimated the magnitude at 6.4, before it was revised.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
