Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and MP Ravi Karunanayake says that as citizens, everyone should focus on how to take the country forward, especially by safeguarding jobs and boosting exports.
Speaking to the media after attending the 32nd commemoration of Lalith Athulathmudali, Karunanayake stressed the importance of translating words into action, urging all stakeholders to actively contribute to the country’s progress rather than merely making statements.
Responding to a journalist’s question about former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s remarks on the 90-day suspension of US import duties, Karunanayake acknowledged that an all-party conference has been convened by the President to address the matter.
When asked about unmet government promises, he said that the pledges made during the election campaign sharply contrast with the government’s current actions. However, he emphasized that the immediate priority should be to ease the burden on people struggling through difficult times.
