The government has announced that this year’s State Vesak Festival will take place in Nuwara Eliya, with celebrations coordinated by the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs; the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government; and the Department of Buddhist Affairs.
The Vesak Week, centered around the Nuwara Eliya International Buddhist Center, will be observed from May 10 to 16.
Held under the theme “Let us associate with noble people of virtuous qualities”, the festival will feature a series of religious observances and cultural programs.
A joint Cabinet proposal submitted by the respective Ministers of Buddhasasana and Public Administration has received official approval to proceed with the planned activities.
