Former Minister Johnston Fernando has been appointed as the Head of Operations of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), marking a key development in the party’s internal leadership.
The appointment was made during a high-level meeting held at the official residence of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo, where senior party members convened to discuss the SLPP’s strategic direction in light of evolving political dynamics.
Fernando’s new role will place him in charge of overseeing grassroots and district-level organisational efforts, with a mandate to strengthen party outreach and mobilisation across the island. As Head of Operations, he will play a pivotal role in executing the party’s political strategies and campaign initiatives.
The move is seen as part of the SLPP’s broader effort to consolidate its support base and gear up for upcoming electoral contests.
