The People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) has called on all eligible citizens to ensure their names are included in the 2026 electoral register, following the commencement of the voter enumeration process on February 1.
PAFFREL specifically urged young citizens who will turn 18 between February 1, 2025, and January 31, 2027, to register through their local Grama Niladhari by submitting the YC form.
The organization also noted that individuals who were not included in last year’s electoral register but are now eligible must apply using the ER form.
Emphasizing the importance of voter registration, PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi said that inclusion in the electoral register is essential to vote in any election and described it as both a fundamental right and a civic responsibility. He further encouraged the public to raise awareness among family members, friends, and colleagues.
